Digital storytelling
Digital storytelling is a way to share experience, knowledge, memories and thoughts by using photos and your personal voice. All over the world, people are making and sharing stories in this way and we love to listen to them.
The reason why people like digital storytelling, is that they are fun to make and easy to share. We love watching them, because they are personal, short and narrative.
What is typical a digital story, is the 7 elements made by Center for digital storytelling. These can be a great help in producing a good story:
- A point of view
- A dramatic question
- Emotional content
- The gift of your voice
- The power of the soundtrack
- Economy
- Pacing
A story can be about anything and for this multimedia-format, you can make:
๏ Personal stories
๏ Character stories
๏ Memorial stories
๏ Adventure stories
๏ Accomplishment stories
๏ Stories about places
๏ Work stories
๏ Recovery stories
๏ Love stories
๏ Discovery stories

Use of photos and soundeffects
When we make digital stories or movies, we are not allowed to use photos from google. If we gonna use photos from internett, we have to make sure we use photos that have copy left licence. That means the owner of the photo gives us permission to use the photo/music in our own storie.
You can read more about Creative Commons here.
If you go to Creative Commons Search, you can search for photos and music that you can modify, adapt or build upon.

Audacity
In Moviemaker and Photostory 3 there are only room for two sound tracks. Somestimes we want to use more than that. Maybe you have voicing, background music and soundeffects like laughs, traffic, flight or train. This is possible to to in Audacity.
You can find a lot of tutotials on youtube on how to use Audacity. Here is one:
- You mix all the soundtracks in Audacity and export as mp3.
- Import the audiofile as a musicfile into Photostory 3 or Moviemaker
- Adjust timing on the pictures
